Milwaukee, Wisconsin, March 27, 2009 – Astronautics Corporation of America will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary this May. Since its founding in 1959, Astronautics has been recognized as a global leader and innovator in the design, development, integration and manufacture of state-of-the-art avionic displays, aircraft servers, flight instruments, Electronic Flight Bags and full flight deck upgrades. Its products have been chosen to fly on more than 150,000 aircraft worldwide.

Astronautics, with nearly 2,000 employees, is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with additional U.S. locations in Little Falls, New Jersey and Asheville, North Carolina and in several other countries.

Since its inception, Astronautics has designed and manufactured products ranging from advanced inertial navigation systems to complete avionic upgrades on existing aircraft fleets.  Astronautics’ growth relies on its flexibility in the global marketplace and its cutting-edge technological developments. Today, Astronautics supplies integrated avionic systems, actuators, advanced flat-panel displays, and digital avionics equipment for commercial and military aircraft, including the C-17, P-3, F-16, T-38, Tornado, PC-9, A-109, UH-60 and B-412, among others.

Astronautics is the global leader in Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs) with over 1,500 Class III EFBs flying to date. Astronautics’ EFB is standard equipment on the 787 and is available on the 777, 767, 757, 747, and 737 aircraft. Astronautics’ EFB also includes an onboard performance tool that helps the pilot reduce fuel consumption; a key tool in today’s economy. The EFB can also be used as a video surveillance of all areas of the aircraft for enhanced security; another key tool in today’s economy. With Astronautics’ certified application of CDTI (Cockpit Display of Traffic Information), for both Class II and Class III EFBs, the pilot can see current location along with information of other aircraft on the ground to prevent Runway Incursion. In the Class III EFB, a similar certified airborne application is being used for airborne use for Merging and
Spacing. Astronautics, in conjunction with the Brazilian Air Force, created the Avionics Modernization Program (AMP) a complete avionics upgrade project for the Brazilian Air Force’s C-130 fleet.  Astronautics’ designed and manufactured a new flight deck to include Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Displays, Miniature Air Data Computers along with providing a new Navigation, Communication, Flight Control and Flight Management Systems, along with an AutonomousDefense System. Astronautics has designed, installed, integrated, flight tested, and certified this new modern Glass cockpit in the C-130H in 56 weeks from contract award. Retired Brazilian Air Force Commander and General Bueno affirmed “Our planes’ instruments and avionics were over 30 years old. This modern technology will be very beneficial, not only to the
pilots but to the mechanics as well. The new instruments are cheaper, more reliable and so they will last a lot longer.” A true testament in the economic crisis we live in today.
